Train the Trainer Course – VOSH Emergency Temporary Standard – COVID-19; Infectious Disease Prevention

We are pleased to offer a special educational program this year as a Train the Trainer (TTT) for the new Virginia COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS), Infectious Disease Prevention:  SARS-CoV-2 Virus That Causes COVID-19.  Initial training was to have been completed by August 26, 2020 if you have employees in the Commonwealth of Virginia and pandemic plans need to be in place by September 25, 2020.  Virginia is also looking at making this a permanent standard and the comment period ends September 25, 2020.

The TTT will be a virtual 4-hour interactive session on Thursday, September 24, 2020, from 8:00 AM EDT – 12:00 PM EDT.  It is applicable to all industries.  The cost is $99 for ASSP members and $125 for non-members.  Training slide decks for use at your company are offered for $50.  Only one set per company is needed as the license is per company.  The class size is limited.  If there is enough interest additional classes will be offered.

This TTT course is designed to provide the attendee background information and science such that they will have a more in-depth understanding of the topic such that they can use their existing teaching skills to provide an effective training program on the new standard and pandemic.  Regardless if you have a business in Virginia, the technical content will be valuable to understand the pandemic from a technical aspect and prepare your workplace to reach an acceptable risk of potential disease transmission.  This program will also provide key information for all size business to comment on the proposed permanent legislation.

1. Overview of infection control (including disinfection, disease transmission, specifics on SARS-CoV-2);
2. Review of training requirements of the standard and sample training program;
3. Detailed explanation of anticipated student/employee questions and;

Unanswered questions about the standard (unique to this program and useful for making comments on the proposed permanent standard)

Lead Instructor – Bruce A. Donato, CSP, CHMM, CECD of K&A First Aid and Safety, Inc.

Mr. Donato is a nationally recognized safety professional who has a diverse background.  Prior to starting up the safety consulting firm, K&A First Aid and Safety in 2000, he has experience in the Chemical Industry, Textile Industry, R&D, Biotech, Construction, Distribution/Shipping/Logistics, Facilities Management and EHS Management.  Mr. Donato has been lecturing on the pandemic since Mid-March this year and continually updates presentations on debunking myths from the main stream news as well as EHS list servers.  His broad experience especially in biosafety has proven to be exceptional in helping EHS professionals sort through the maze of information.

Mr. Donato has given over 50 Technical Presentations or Courses for various associations.  Most recently an interactive virtual emergency response for COVID-19 at the national AHMP conference.

Mr. Donato has a BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
