The recipient of the Region VI 2017 SPY award has been an ASSE member since 2012. He is a bi-lingual safety professional with 12 years’ experience in the safety field and over 14 years in the construction sector. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Cartagena, Colombia and after moving to the US in 2001, he began his career in construction safety in the South Florida area.
- He is an active member of the NOVA Chapter (Treasurer)
- He is a member of the ANSI A10.2 committee.
- He is a member of the Safety Professionals and Latino Workforce, where he is also the Secretary.
- He is the Founder-President of the “Latino Safety Professionals Association”, which was created to assist and facilitate the path for Latino workers to become Safety Professionals.
- He is a Peer-Group Vice Chair for Virginia and METRO DC Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
- He is also an OSHA 500 Construction Outreach Trainer and CPR/First Aid Instructor.
In 2016 he received the President’s Award from the NOVA Chapter of ASSE.
In 2017 he received the NOVA Chapter SPY Award.
